Brunch Before the Farmers Market

Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar

Weekends in MidCity are made for slow mornings and Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar is one of our favorite places to start the day. Southern comfort classics come with generous portions and just the right excuse to linger over another cup of coffee. If it's your first visit, the chicken and waffles have earned their reputation.

On Sundays, the morning doesn't have to end when brunch does. The Market at MidCity runs from mid-March through early November and is an easy walk from the restaurant. Browse local produce, baked goods, fresh flowers, and handmade goods before heading back to your suite. It's a relaxed way to spend the morning and a great introduction to the neighborhood.

Dinner Before a Show at The Orion

A night at The Orion Amphitheater is one of the best ways to experience MidCity, and dinner is easy when you're already in the neighborhood. Whether you're looking for a quick meal before the show or somewhere to linger over drinks before the gates open, you'll find great options just a short walk from the venue.

Kamado Ramen

If you're craving something comforting, Kamado Ramen is one of our favorite pre-show stops. The ramen arrives quickly, the flavors are rich without feeling too heavy, and you'll have plenty of time to make the short walk to the amphitheater before the lights go down.

The Camp

Looking for something a little more casual? Head to The Camp, MidCity's open-air gathering place. Part beer garden, part live music venue, and part neighborhood hangout, it's the kind of place where it's easy to settle in before a concert. Food trucks rotate throughout the week, so there's always something new to try. If Tamarind Island Grille is on-site, don't miss it. Their Caribbean-inspired menu, including flavorful vegan options, has become a local favorite.

Dinner Worth Lingering Over

Some evenings call for a slower pace. Whether you're celebrating something special or simply looking for a great meal together, MidCity and the surrounding neighborhood have plenty of options that make lingering over dinner easy.

Salt Factory Pub

Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for an unhurried dinner together, Salt Factory Pub offers a comfortable spot to settle in. With elevated pub fare, handcrafted cocktails, and a warm, inviting atmosphere, it's an easy choice when you want to linger over dinner instead of rushing to the next stop.

Char

Most of the restaurants in this guide are an easy walk from Anthem House. Char is the exception, but if you're planning a memorable dinner, it's well worth the short drive. Known for expertly prepared steaks, fresh seafood, and polished service, it's one of Huntsville's favorite spots for anniversaries, birthdays, or simply treating yourselves to a great meal.

A Laid-Back Evening in MidCity

Blue Oak BBQ

Some evenings aren't meant to be rushed. Whether you're catching up with friends, sharing a meal with family, or simply unwinding after a day of exploring Huntsville, Blue Oak BBQ is the kind of place that invites you to settle in.

Known for its smoked brisket, pulled pork, and generous sides, Blue Oak serves the kind of barbecue that's worth lingering over. Order a few favorites for the table, take your time, and enjoy the easygoing atmosphere that makes this spot a local favorite.

What's New on the MidCity Dining Scene

One of the best things about MidCity is that there's always something new to discover. The neighborhood's restaurant scene continues to grow, giving returning visitors even more reasons to come back.

Dragon Alley

One of MidCity's newest favorites, Dragon Alley brings Asian street food to the district. Handmade soup dumplings are the standout, but the menu also features noodle bowls and shareable small plates that make it easy to order for the table. It's the latest concept from the team behind Kamado Ramen, Kung Fu Tea, and Tous Les Jours, making this stretch of MidCity a go-to destination for Asian cuisine.

Floriana (Coming Soon)

Another exciting addition is on the horizon. Originally opened in Washington, D.C.'s Dupont Circle in 1979, Floriana is preparing to bring its family-owned Italian restaurant to MidCity with its first Alabama location. Expect scratch-made pasta, wood-fired pizzas, and a raw bar, making it an easy choice for date nights, celebrations, or simply lingering over dinner with friends.
