Head to the WhyHotel by Placemakr, Navy Yard guest entrance, located at 1800 Half Street SW (in the Verge apartment building). Use this link to navigate to our location on Half Street.
Enter through the glass doors. To enter the second set of doors, open the Latch app and click on the mobile key for your reservation. Scan your key by holding the Latch mobile key up to the left reader for at least 5 seconds (make sure you have internet with Bluetooth & location services enabled). This will unlock the door.
Head straight to your unit using your Latch app and mobile key for access. Latch will give you access to all common areas in the building as well.

As a reminder, you'll receive an email to download the Latch app and create an account on the day of your arrival. Then, you'll be able to access your mobile key to get into the building and your unit. If you would like to download the app in advance, you may do so here for iOS or Android.
We are not able to offer parking at WhyHotel by Placemakr, Navy Yard. Please reach out if you need recommendations if you have any questions.

WhyHotel by Placemakr, Navy Yard is happy to offer contactless check-in to our guests using the Latch app. For a smooth check-in and in order to skip the front desk, please follow the steps below.
1. Verify your information
In order to keep Placemakr safe for all guests and residents, we require all guests to verify their information before giving access to the building and their unit.
We will send you a unique link to verify your information and complete your reservation, however you may also look it up here.
On the day of your arrival, you'll receive an email prompting you to download the Latch app and create an account. The app will act as your key! Your unit will be accessible at check-in time, which is 4pm.
Tip: The email will come from "Latch," not Placemakr. Search your inbox for "Latch" if you don't see it.
As long as you have completed verification and there are no other issues with your reservation, you will be able to access your unit via the Latch app at check-in time.
Bluetooth and location services must be enabled for the mobile key to work, and you’ll need to have internet access the first time you pull up your key. See the arrival guide below for more information on using your Latch app.
If you have additional guests staying with you, you can share digital access with them through your Latch app. Simply open the app, select ‘Let someone in’ in the top right corner, then share app access and door codes with your guests.
Wi-Fi is always complimentary at all Placemakr properties. In addition to in-unit signs, we will text and email you your unit network and password at the time of check-in.
We've partnered with AppleTV so you can stream TV just like you do at home. There are over 15 popular apps pre-downloaded on the TVs that you can sign into, or you can download any available apps from the App Store. For a live TV option, check out the Pluto TV app which offers over 100 channels.
We always clear your login information after your stay.
For a quick and seamless TV experience, we recommend having your login information ready prior to arrival.
We provide all the necessities to keep your room clean ( broom and dustpan, paper towels, dish soap, and laundry detergent, including laundry (in-unit washer and dryer) and dishwashers.
Guests staying with us for 7 days or longer will receive complimentary unit cleanings bi-weekly. Guests staying for shorter stays have the option of purchasing à la carte cleaning for $119. Contact us to arrange for this service.
If you need extra towels or linens, please ask us.
All food and grocery deliveries must be met at the front entrance. For safety reasons, we don't allow deliveries up to guest floors.
Harris Teeter is the closest grocery store, located just a 7 minute drive or 20 minute walk away at 401 M Street SE. They also offer delivery!
If you’re having packages delivered, please follow the example below. You will be contacted if you have a package; otherwise, reach out to us.
We use a carrier service for deliveries, which are first sent to a nearby warehouse. Once they are delivered to WhyHotel, we will reach out to notify you.

Q: Does WhyHotel by Placemakr, Navy Yard allow pets?
A: Yes, pets are welcome. Please let us know before your arrival if you’re bringing a pet so we can prepare for them.
This property is dog- and cat-friendly. We charge a non-refundable, one-time pet cleaning fee of $100 to cover the costs of special housekeeping. This helps ensure the safety and comfort of guests who stay in the room after you.

A: Yes, WhyHotel by Placemakr, Navy Yard provides complimentary luggage storage. If you arrive early, we’re happy to offer free luggage storage until check-in time at 4 p.m. Placemakr is not responsible for lost or stolen property.
